Pre Wedding Shoot with Christina & Noel

Pre Wedding Shoot with Christina & Noel. I met up with Christina & Noel yesterday for a pre wedding photo shoot. It is always good to try and get couples used to the idea of being in front of a camera. Noel told me that he had never did this before, but, after yesterday I think he was having a laugh. He loved it lol. Christina was just brilliant, and now really looking forward to their wedding this month. We went to Lisnagra Woods near the village of Muff in County Donegal.  The weather was a little off so we knew we would be under the trees for a little protection.

The woods at Lisnagra are west of Muff and can be reached by turning right at Harkins on the way to Derry. They featured recently on RTE and BBC but are not generally known as a tourist attraction. Some visitors have seen squirrels emerge from the wood, and they are quite numerous. A walk through the woods on a warm day is something to remember. Muff is a village in County Donegal, Ireland. It is near the mouth of the River Foyle and sits at the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The village of Culmore and the city of Derry are to the south. We chose this location also for the pre wedding shoot as it is very close to where we all live in Derry. Many thanks for looking and please feel free to like and share this post – thank you again Gerard Gormley Photography, Derry.

At Gerard Gormley Photography, I strive to get the best photos possible. If i can help you in any way then please feel free to get in touch. You can also follow my work on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Ina Wilson 80th Birthday Celebrations

I was asked to take pictures at an 80th Birthday Celebration in Maggies Tavern for the lovely Ina Wilson.  What a night it was.  It was great fun but i should say the lady celebrating her birthday is 80 years young!  The family had gathered to party for the young lady – Ina made a grand entrance to cheers and applause – she loved it all.  As per usual at Gerard Gormley Photography, i like to take pictures in a natural, fun and classic style.  I am sure a good night was had by all and looking forward to many more years of celebrations.

Communion Photo Shoot – Elaine McCloskey

I had the pleasure to do a First Holy Communion Shoot with Elaine McCloskey through Local Women Magazine.  We met up at the Everglades Hotel in Derry in the evening time.  Elaine arrived at that time as It was a school day.  The young ladies looked very pretty in the dresses provided by Elaine.  Elaine has a Wedding Alteration and Accessories business along with Saranna Design Bridal business.  It was great fun and the staff at the Everglades were very helpful and really made us feel at home by putting on a real fire for us.  It was a cold and wet evening so this was great,

Wedding Workshop with Demi and Jay

I am always trying to improve on my journey with photography.  I always try to make it fun with very natural images that are also simple and fun.  Life has to have some room for some fun and laughter.  Last weekend I spent some time practising on getting better with some help from Jay Doherty and the lovely Demi O’Hara.

We spent an afternoon at The Red Door in County Donegal.  There were a few other photographers along with myself and we spent the afternoon having fun and just practising our skills trying to get better so that we can improve our finished product.  I am very fussy so only accept the best for myself.

Cumber House, Claudy – O’Kane Family Photo Shoot

I was honoured to be asked by the O’Kane Family to take photos for them this summer. It was a special day for them, as all the grandchildren were together for the first time in a long time.  There were great-grandchildren there too, which was great fun though challenging.

The weather started off wet but cleared and it was a very warm and muggy afternoon. As there was some cloud cover, it was almost perfect conditions for a family portrait sessions, as the sun can otherwise make people squint. At Cumber House there are plenty of trees to take shelter from both the sun and the rain.

At Gerard Gormley Photography, we aim to produce for the best photos possible, whatever the weather, and though my main passion is wedding photography in Derry, family portrait sessions are always great fun.
