Aaron’s First Communion

Aaron’s First Communion

Aaron’s First Communion took place on 30th September 2020. A Family Communion is always a special day. Strange time for a communion due to Covid. We met at the Craft Village in Derry City Centre just after the service. The weather was good to us if only a little cool. Aaron’s first communion was a bit of craic from now on. We walked around the Craft Village where there are so many great places for photos and then went onto the Derry Walls which has many spectacular views. We used the area around the Guildhall a lot with great background views. I got the kids jumping around which helped to relax them. The kids really enjoyed it when i got their mum and dad to do the same lol.

A little about me on Aaron’s first communion

I’ve spent years helping people to find the perfect sole. In my shoe shop in the heart of Derry and now through my passion for photography
I get to photograph people with their soulmates! My daughter Bronagh and parents have always been and always will be a big part of my life. We have shared so many moments and enjoy looking at older photos and laughing together. Moments and the moments between moments during a wedding or a portrait session hold so much emotion. I love to capture images in a fun, natural and classic way. I’ve been passionate about photography for years, from the darkroom to my digital camera today, and storytelling is at the heart of what I do. I’m Gerard and I look forward to telling your story.

At Gerard Gormley photography, I strive to get the best images possible. Please feel free to share and like this post. You can also follow my work on FacebookInstagram and Twitter.

Dobbins Family Communion

Dobbins Family Communion

The Dobbins Family Communion took place this week where  Finn was the star of the show. His father Simon was trying to be the star but just couldn’t do it this time. We met at St. Columb’s Park House early evening and the weather was just lovely – a little cool but nice. This was basically a family photo shoot. It turned out to be great fun. I know Simon and the family so the craic was good. We just went for a walk around the park. We ended up at the swings with all the kids. Some kids had to move so we could get some photos but they were ok about it. The usual parents kissing above the child photo was great fun with poor Finn cringing and his mum and dad loving it of course.

Zara & Tiernan Photoshoot

Zara & Tiernan Photoshoot

Zara & Tiernan Photoshoot was such a fun photo shoot – most of the time lol. This was a shoot that was put back due to Covid. This was supposed to happen at the end of March but just didn’t happen. Zara & Tiernan are two very special kids who are also blessed to have two special mums, Rosin & Aoife. We met at St. Columb’s Park recently and just went for a walk. To see the special bond between this family was really lovely to witness and capture. I am only showing a few images as there are so many. Zara & Tiernan Photoshoot is a shoot i will always remember. We just had a lot of fun. The two kids were just like any other kids with plenty of laughs and tears. The photos speak for themselves I think.

Christina’s Wedding Prep

Christina’s Wedding Prep. This is just a quick look at Christina’s Wedding Prep on the morning of her wedding with Noel. It really was such a fun morning. As a wedding photographer, I find it a privilege to be asked to document the day. I arrived around 930am to Christina’s  parents house where she was getting ready. It was organised and chaotic all at the same time. It was a fun time for them all. When her dad came in to see the dress she did a little emotional which is to be expected. The raw emotion was palpable. The hair and make up were all done in the house which worked well for Christina. There is of course the usual bottle of bubbly to be opened.

Crowley Family Photos

Crowley Family Photos

Crowley Family Photos was a little project a couple of days ago with strict social distancing of course from me. I met Pamela, Grace and the kids at Lisnagra woods near Muff in Donegal and the photos tell the story. It was lovely seeing them all and just great to see kids out in nature having fun. Crowley Family Photos was something that i did before and i am sure it will happen again. Always difficult for a young boy when surrounded by three women lol.

Jude Bradley’s Confirmation

Jude Bradley’s confirmation took place recently at St. Eugene’s Cathedral in Derry. I met His mum and dad, Leona & Mark at Brooke Park in Derry which is very close to the Cathedral. Thee weather at that stage of the day was nice so we got some nice photos but not long after we left the weather changed. The family then went to the City Hotel in Derry for a party with friends and family. I met them there for some more photos before the eating started. Jude Bradley’s Confirmation was fun for all the family. We got lucky with the weather for the park but the rain can be fun also.

Street Fashion with Yasmin.  I was with Yasmin for our monthy visit into town to get some images for Local Women Magazine for the Sreet Fashion page. I can assure you that this is always fun for more than one reason. We were in town for about an hour and based mostly in Foyleside Shopping Centre. The ladies here were all up for the craic and thank you to you all. Most importantly we all had fun because most people enjoy it. It was an ok day for weather so there were plenty around.

Yasmin is a blogger and very good at it. You can find her at https://snazzyyazi.com/

Hard As Oak with Local Women Magazine

Hard As Oak is a 10km challenge like no other. Located in the picturesque Faughan Valley and incorporating all its finest features this really is a challenge like no other. They have a cliff jump, swings, rope climb, slip’n’slide, gorge climb, swamp, mature woodland, walled gardens, marsh, lanes, gullies, paths, streams, rivers, trenches, stone stairways, open fields and a plethora of obstacles built in around this varied terrain. I went along on the morning of the challenge to get some photos for Local Women Magazine.

These are just group shots that I have but there is a link for more action shots on the Hard As Oak page. At Gerard Gormley Photography, I strive for the best photos possible. If I can help in any way with your photography needs then please feel free to get in touch. You can also follow my work on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Many thanks for taking the time to look – Gerard Gormley Photography.

Some advice for Hard As Oak training. A running program should be your first step for building endurance. If you’re new to running, consider joining a local running club to get assistance from experienced runners who can help train and give advice as you become fitter. This will allow you to build up a moderate level of fitness, to introduce new training methods and develop skills.
