Isle of Doagh, BallyliffinWeddings
These images were taken at the Isle of Doagh near Ballyliffin on the Inishowen Peninsula, Co. Donegal. This is a very popular destination for wedding images. It is a beautiful place to visit at anytime of the year. There are also many other locations close to the beach also.
We had a long drive from Drumquin to Ballyliffin. The drive is certainly worth it. The area is just beautiful at any time of year. We were lucky with the weather as it was calm and quite mild for winter. I was with the boys in the morning and they were very relaxed. A lot of neighbours called to wish them all well for the day. The service was lovely – as all weddings are. The singing on this occasion was fabulous.
We also managed to get some family photos inside as we just ran out of light for the outside photos.
Oileán na Dumhcha; also known in English as Doagh Isle or Doagh Island is a small peninsula in the north of Inishowen on the north coast of County Donegal in Ulster, Ireland. It once was an island. Over time, the channel between Doagh and the mainland silted up and it became joined to the mainland. Nevertheless, the area continued to be referred as the Isle of Doagh or Doagh Island. The area comprises five townlands; Ballymacmoriarty, Carrickabraghy, Carrowreagh, Fegart and Lagacurry. Doagh Island is very near the village of Ballyliffin.
