A little about me.

I’ve spent years helping people to find the perfect sole. In my shoe shop in the heart of Derry and now through my passion for photography
I get to photograph people with their soulmates! My daughter Bronagh and parents have always been and always will be a big part of my life. We have shared so many moments and enjoy looking at older photos and laughing together. Moments and the moments between moments during a wedding or a portrait session hold so much emotion. I love to capture images in a fun, natural and classic way. I’ve been passionate about photography for years, from the darkroom to my digital camera today, and storytelling is at the heart of what I do. I’m Gerard and I look forward to telling your story.

Bishop’s Gate Hotel Derry

Bishop’s Gate Hotel Derry

Bishop’s Gate Hotel Derry for another fun evening. At Bishop’s Gate Hotel on 17th February 2018 the Palais Swing Band were entertaining diners and by all accounts it was a great night.  I was there taking photos just before the meals were served.  There was a lot of fun and banter.  I was taking photos for Local Women Magazine and as usual for me at Gerard Gormley Photography, i like taking images in a fun, natural and classic way.

Women in Enterprise

Women in Enterprise is always fun to go to. I went along to a Women in Enterprise Event at the City Hotel in Derry with Local Women Magazine.  There were a lot of women involved in business at the event.  It was a full house.  There was a great atmosphere at the event.  As usual at Gerard Gormley Photography, i wanted to capture some moments from the evening.

Perfections Hair & Beauty

I was asked to do a photo shoot for Local Women Magazine recently at Perfections Hair and Beauty in New Buildings.  I met the owner Claira at the salon with the two gorgeous models for the day, Nicole Mc Keever and Aimee Pyper.

We really had some fun – the salon was closed while we took photos but there was a great atmosphere.  The models were great to work with and very professional – as per usual at Gerard Gormley Photography – I like to keep it simple and fun – which it was.

Communion Shoot with Elaine McCloskey

Communion Shoot with Elaine McCloskey was great fun pleasure to do a First Holy Communion Shoot with Elaine McCloskey through Local Women Magazine.  We met up at the Everglades Hotel in Derry in the evening time.  Elaine arrived at that time as It was a school day.  The young ladies looked very pretty in the dresses provided by Elaine.  Elaine has a Wedding Alteration and Accessories business along with Saranna Design Bridal business.  It was great fun and the staff at the Everglades were very helpful and really made us feel at home by putting on a real fire for us.  It was a cold and wet evening so this was great,

Commercial Photos with Deirdre

Commercial Photos with Deirdre was some magazine work. Deirdre’s at the Diamond in Carndonagh were doing an advert in a magazine called Local Women.  My job was to go and take some images of models in the latest fashion from the retail shop.  We got a most glorious day to take photos.  It was early Autumn and a warm, dry and sunny day.  The models were brilliant to work with and everyone had fun.  As per usual at Gerard Gormley Photography we tried our best to keep it simple and fun. Commercial photos with Deirdre was a fun day.

Make up and hair was done by Emer O’Connor and Thaynara Souza.

Wedding Photos with Demi

I am always trying to improve on my journey with photography.  I always try to make it fun with very natural images that are also simple and fun.  Life has to have some room for some fun and laughter.  Last weekend I spent some time practising on getting better with some help from Jay Doherty and the lovely Demi O’Hara. Wedding Photos with Demi was a fun day.

We spent an afternoon at The Red Door in County Donegal.  There were a few other photographers along with myself and we spent the afternoon having fun and just practising our skills trying to get better so that we can improve our finished product.  I am very fussy so only accept the best for myself.

Snazzy Yazzi Workshop Fun

Sazzy Yazzi Workshop fun was a bit o craic with Yasmin. A few nights ago I attended a workshop with Jay Doherty. It was a fun evening where local photographers gathered for some fun learning with Jay doing the teaching. We met up near Redcastle in County Donegal. For Snazzy Yazzi Workshop Fun it was a cool evening for July but the model for the evening was great fun and more than agreeable to our demands.
At Gerard Gormley Photography I am always trying to improve and get the best results for my customers. This sometimes means going to workshops to improve on skills – always good to refresh and also to interact with other photographers and see what they are doing.
The rain came on a few times but only very briefly so we managed to get everything done that we had planned to do. Snazzy Yazzi Workshop Fun is one to remember.
