Mount Errigal is the highest mountain in Donegal. I have visited many times but only climbed it once. The day i climbed it was a gorgeous summer’s day but even then was cold at the top. It attracts many visitors from far and wide. There is the lake at Dunlewey on one side. One can get great reflection images on this lake. Poisoned Glen is close to Mount Errigal also which is a fabulous place to visit.
Errigal is the most southern, steepest and highest of the mountain chain, called the “Seven Sisters”. The Seven Sisters includes Muckish, Crocknalaragagh, Aghla Beg, Ardloughnabrackbaddy, Aghla More, Mackoght and Errigal. The nearest peak is Mackoght (from Irish: Mac Uchta, meaning “son of the mountain-breast”) which is also known as Little Errigal or Wee Errigal (Irish: an Earagail Bheag).
Errigal is known for the pinkish glow of its quartzite in the setting sun. Another noted quality is the ever-changing shape of the mountain depending on what direction you view it from. Errigal was voted ‘Ireland’s Most Iconic Mountain’ by Walking & Hiking Ireland in 2009.
A little about me.
I’ve spent years helping people to find the perfect sole. In my shoe shop in the heart of Derry and now through my passion for photography
I get to photograph people with their soulmates! My daughter Bronagh and parents have always been and always will be a big part of my life. We have shared so many moments and enjoy looking at older photos and laughing together. Moments and the moments between moments during a wedding or a portrait session hold so much emotion. I love to capture images in a fun, natural and classic way. I’ve been passionate about photography for years, from the darkroom to my digital camera today, and storytelling is at the heart of what I do. I’m Gerard and I look forward to telling your story.
