Mount Errigal

Mount Errigal

Mount Errigal is the highest mountain in Donegal. I have visited many times but only climbed it once. The day i climbed it was a gorgeous summer’s day but even then was cold at the top. It attracts many visitors from far and wide. There is the lake at Dunlewey on one side. One can get great reflection images on this lake. Poisoned Glen is close to Mount Errigal also which is a fabulous place to visit.

Errigal is the most southern, steepest and highest of the mountain chain, called the “Seven Sisters”. The Seven Sisters includes Muckish, Crocknalaragagh, Aghla Beg, Ardloughnabrackbaddy, Aghla More, Mackoght and Errigal. The nearest peak is Mackoght (from Irish: Mac Uchta, meaning “son of the mountain-breast”) which is also known as Little Errigal or Wee Errigal (Irish: an Earagail Bheag).

Errigal is known for the pinkish glow of its quartzite in the setting sun. Another noted quality is the ever-changing shape of the mountain depending on what direction you view it from. Errigal was voted ‘Ireland’s Most Iconic Mountain’ by Walking & Hiking Ireland in 2009.

A little about me.

I’ve spent years helping people to find the perfect sole. In my shoe shop in the heart of Derry and now through my passion for photography
I get to photograph people with their soulmates! My daughter Bronagh and parents have always been and always will be a big part of my life. We have shared so many moments and enjoy looking at older photos and laughing together. Moments and the moments between moments during a wedding or a portrait session hold so much emotion. I love to capture images in a fun, natural and classic way. I’ve been passionate about photography for years, from the darkroom to my digital camera today, and storytelling is at the heart of what I do. I’m Gerard and I look forward to telling your story.

At Gerard Gormley photography, I strive to get the best images possible. Please feel free to share and like this post. You can also follow my work on FacebookInstagram and Twitter.

Hard As Oak with Local Women Magazine

Hard As Oak is a 10km challenge like no other. Located in the picturesque Faughan Valley and incorporating all its finest features this really is a challenge like no other. They have a cliff jump, swings, rope climb, slip’n’slide, gorge climb, swamp, mature woodland, walled gardens, marsh, lanes, gullies, paths, streams, rivers, trenches, stone stairways, open fields and a plethora of obstacles built in around this varied terrain. I went along on the morning of the challenge to get some photos for Local Women Magazine.

These are just group shots that I have but there is a link for more action shots on the Hard As Oak page. At Gerard Gormley Photography, I strive for the best photos possible. If I can help in any way with your photography needs then please feel free to get in touch. You can also follow my work on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Many thanks for taking the time to look – Gerard Gormley Photography.

Some advice for Hard As Oak training. A running program should be your first step for building endurance. If you’re new to running, consider joining a local running club to get assistance from experienced runners who can help train and give advice as you become fitter. This will allow you to build up a moderate level of fitness, to introduce new training methods and develop skills.

Pre Wedding Shoot with Christina & Noel

Pre Wedding Shoot with Christina & Noel. I met up with Christina & Noel yesterday for a pre wedding photo shoot. It is always good to try and get couples used to the idea of being in front of a camera. Noel told me that he had never did this before, but, after yesterday I think he was having a laugh. He loved it lol. Christina was just brilliant, and now really looking forward to their wedding this month. We went to Lisnagra Woods near the village of Muff in County Donegal.  The weather was a little off so we knew we would be under the trees for a little protection.

The woods at Lisnagra are west of Muff and can be reached by turning right at Harkins on the way to Derry. They featured recently on RTE and BBC but are not generally known as a tourist attraction. Some visitors have seen squirrels emerge from the wood, and they are quite numerous. A walk through the woods on a warm day is something to remember. Muff is a village in County Donegal, Ireland. It is near the mouth of the River Foyle and sits at the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The village of Culmore and the city of Derry are to the south. We chose this location also for the pre wedding shoot as it is very close to where we all live in Derry. Many thanks for looking and please feel free to like and share this post – thank you again Gerard Gormley Photography, Derry.

At Gerard Gormley Photography, I strive to get the best photos possible. If i can help you in any way then please feel free to get in touch. You can also follow my work on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Womens Inspire Network

Womens Inspire Network

Womens Inspire Network was today’s office. I met a lady recently called Samantha Kelly at a Women in Enterprise Event in Derry. I then had the pleasure of being asked to take photos at a conference called Women’s Inspire Network being held at Harvey’s Point near Donegal town. Samantha is really an incredible lady who goes by the name of “The Tweeting Goddess” which comes from her expert knowledge of the social network platform Twitter.

Anna Daly the Irish TV Presenter was there to host the event and proved very popular. The event was very well attended on what was the most gorgeous day from a weather point of view. The conference itself was very entertaining and the speakers were very well versed on what they talked about. There were many speakers in attendance and covered many topics. There was a fabulous social aspect on the day and everyone there was more than generous with their knowledge in order to help each other. At Gerard Gormley Photography I strive to get the best images possible so please feel free to get in touch if I can help in any way with your photography needs. Please feel free to share this post. Limavady GAA

Limavady GAA

Limavady GAA was today’s photo shoot. One thing i really enjoy about working with Local Women Magazine is getting out and about. Also meeting new people is such fun. Firstly, Limavady GAA held a dinner dance recently at Roe Park Resort in Limavady. There was a huge turnout, therefore, I only have a small number of images to show. As I was only there for a little while it was fun. At Gerard Gormley Photography I strive to get the best images possible. Photos can be great and sometimes only memories for many people. Please feel free to get in touch if i can in any way help you with your photography needs. You can follow my work on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
