Aaron’s First Communion

Aaron’s First Communion

Aaron’s First Communion took place on 30th September 2020. A Family Communion is always a special day. Strange time for a communion due to Covid. We met at the Craft Village in Derry City Centre just after the service. The weather was good to us if only a little cool. Aaron’s first communion was a bit of craic from now on. We walked around the Craft Village where there are so many great places for photos and then went onto the Derry Walls which has many spectacular views. We used the area around the Guildhall a lot with great background views. I got the kids jumping around which helped to relax them. The kids really enjoyed it when i got their mum and dad to do the same lol.

A little about me on Aaron’s first communion

I’ve spent years helping people to find the perfect sole. In my shoe shop in the heart of Derry and now through my passion for photography
I get to photograph people with their soulmates! My daughter Bronagh and parents have always been and always will be a big part of my life. We have shared so many moments and enjoy looking at older photos and laughing together. Moments and the moments between moments during a wedding or a portrait session hold so much emotion. I love to capture images in a fun, natural and classic way. I’ve been passionate about photography for years, from the darkroom to my digital camera today, and storytelling is at the heart of what I do. I’m Gerard and I look forward to telling your story.

Dobbins Family Communion

Dobbins Family Communion

The Dobbins Family Communion took place this week where  Finn was the star of the show. His father Simon was trying to be the star but just couldn’t do it this time. We met at St. Columb’s Park House early evening and the weather was just lovely – a little cool but nice. This was basically a family photo shoot. It turned out to be great fun. I know Simon and the family so the craic was good. We just went for a walk around the park. We ended up at the swings with all the kids. Some kids had to move so we could get some photos but they were ok about it. The usual parents kissing above the child photo was great fun with poor Finn cringing and his mum and dad loving it of course.

Zara & Tiernan Photoshoot

Zara & Tiernan Photoshoot

Zara & Tiernan Photoshoot was such a fun photo shoot – most of the time lol. This was a shoot that was put back due to Covid. This was supposed to happen at the end of March but just didn’t happen. Zara & Tiernan are two very special kids who are also blessed to have two special mums, Rosin & Aoife. We met at St. Columb’s Park recently and just went for a walk. To see the special bond between this family was really lovely to witness and capture. I am only showing a few images as there are so many. Zara & Tiernan Photoshoot is a shoot i will always remember. We just had a lot of fun. The two kids were just like any other kids with plenty of laughs and tears. The photos speak for themselves I think.

Doherty Family Communion

Doherty Family Communion

Doherty Family Communion was held on 12th September 2020. I met them after to get some family photos. We decided on going to Roe Valley Country Park near Limavady. I have taken many photos there and knew it would be ideal. The park itself is very large but we stayed around the car park where there were plenty of places to get photos. Family photos are very important to have. Having a family communion photo shoot is popular in Derry, Donegal, Tyrone and beyond. If you would like some family communion photos then please get in touch. I am mostly a natural light photographer and just look to capture moments and create memories. I regard photos as precious. It is only when you look for them and they’re not there that you realise how important they are.

Throwback to 2018 The Wedding of Peter & Lorna

Peter & Lorna got married on 14th August 2018 at Bishop’s Gate Hotel in Derry, the wedding between Peter & Lorna took place.  I was there for a little while just to get some photos of the newly married couple. At Gerard Gormley Photography, I like to take photos in a fun, natural and classic way.  The guests were all gathered at the hotel when I arrived.  I met Peter and Lorna and we decided just to do some images inside in the beautiful library area of the hotel.  The light was almost perfect for us and as you can see below, we got some lovely images.  Many thanks to Peter & Lorna for allowing me to enjoy their day, if only for a little while.  I wish you both many happy years together.  Please feel free to contact me if I can help with any photography needs.  You can get me here or on Facebook at Gerard Gormley Photography.

Fitness Shoot with Aidan Doherty Fitness

Fitness Shoot with Aidan Doherty Fitness based in Skeoge Business Park was a good laugh. I called to the gym and although I had some ideas, so did Aidan lol. I actually attend this gym and have been since January. Everyone is great fun and more than willing to help and support each other.  Then there is Ryan who is affectionately known as Hitler lol. He loves it of course. Attending the gym has been a great experience. Aidan has created in my opinion something special. Both Aidan and Ryan try and get the most out of you at the time. That said, they do keep a close eye on us all when at the gym and exercising. They both pay a lot attention to the overall well being including mental health of their clients. I have had gym membership in the past but this is very different in a good way. This of course is only my opinion but the other members I know would agree I feel sure.

Bride on the Wedding Morning

Bride on the Wedding Morning – here are a few images from getting ready to meeting the man she loves. This is Martina and Justin’s wedding. The morning of a wedding can be chaos but it is so much fun. This is obviously the bride’s house and will be very different to the groom’s house. Here you have hair and make up along with so much stuff going on. The main focus is the bride but if kids are involved things can get tricky lol. These images are when everyone is ready and starting to get ready for the trip to the Church.

Ciara and Nathan

Ciara and Nathan had their photo shoot at the Pollan Beach near Ballyliffin. This really is a fabulous location in Donegal. Many bridal parties arrive here for photos so we were lucky with the weather. Ciara and Nathan were great fun to work with and they all just got stuck in and had a fun day. Rain had fallen earlier in the day and we got a lovely photo of the couple under the rainbow. Without the rain you will not get that shot.

Christina’s Wedding Prep

Christina’s Wedding Prep. This is just a quick look at Christina’s Wedding Prep on the morning of her wedding with Noel. It really was such a fun morning. As a wedding photographer, I find it a privilege to be asked to document the day. I arrived around 930am to Christina’s  parents house where she was getting ready. It was organised and chaotic all at the same time. It was a fun time for them all. When her dad came in to see the dress she did a little emotional which is to be expected. The raw emotion was palpable. The hair and make up were all done in the house which worked well for Christina. There is of course the usual bottle of bubbly to be opened.

Benito Rodriguez Photo Shoot

Benito Rodriguez Photo Shoot.

Benito Rodríguez made his operatic debut in 2011 with the character of Rodolfo in Puccini’s “La Boheme” in Mexico City. Since then he has sung that role on several occasions in other cities in Mexico, the United States and Canada.

It has been performed at festivals and opera houses in many countries.

In 2019, he recorded Gounod’s opera “Faust” with the UK National Symphony Orchestra.

In that same year, he participated with HBO as an actor and opera singer in that chain’s new show, “The nevers”, directed by renowned producer and film director Joss Whedon.

He also had the honor of singing the New York premiere of the opera “Il Postino” by composer Daniel Catán and the world premiere of “Shulamit” by composer Dina Pruzhansky.

She continued her training under the guidance of Maestro Plácido Domingo and the international soprano Nelly Miricioiu, mentor of the Jette Parker Program at the Royal Opera House, with whom she has participated in multiple concerts and operas.

In addition to being an opera singer, Benito is a cultural promoter, supporting Mexican singers through the Opera Studio Beckmann, giving them the opportunity for an operatic preparation of the highest level, with renowned teachers from Mexico and the world.
