Stendhal Festival 2019

Stendhal Festival 2019 took place recently so i went along with Local Women Magazine to get a sense of the atmosphere. Everyone there was in great form. There was a great family feel to this festival.

Stendhal Festival was originally formed in 2008 by Ross Parkhill & John Cartwright, to showcase local music across 3 days in Limavady. The festival reformed as Stendhal Festival of Art in 2011 by the founders Ross Parkhill, John Cartwright and Colm O’Donnell, as a platform for local artists to perform alongside acts such as Turin Brakes at Ballymully Cottage Farm in Limavady. The festival was named after Stendhal Syndrome.

A little about me. I’ve spent years helping people to find the perfect sole. In my shoe shop in the heart of Derry and now through my passion for photography
I get to photograph people with their soulmates! My daughter Bronagh and parents have always been and always will be a big part of my life. We have shared so many moments and enjoy looking at older photos and laughing together. Moments and the moments between moments during a wedding or a portrait session hold so much emotion. I love to capture images in a fun, natural and classic way. I’ve been passionate about photography for years, from the darkroom to my digital camera today, and storytelling is at the heart of what I do. I’m Gerard and I look forward to telling your story.

At Gerard Gormley photography, I strive to get the best images possible. Please feel free to share and like this post. You can also follow my work on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

Gormley Shoes Strabane

Gormley Shoes Strabane had a photoshoot with Local Women Magazine during August for this month’s magazine.  Yasmin Robinson from SnazzyYazi Style Blog was the model for the day and she was brilliant. We did the shoot at the lovely setting of Sion Stables in Sion Mills. Gormley Shoes have been based in Main Street in Strabane for over 25 years and do a large variety of footwear for all the family.

A Wedding Shoot at Roe Park

A wedding Shoot at Roe Park – i was asked by Local Women Magazine recently to get some images from a Wedding Shoot at Roe Park resort. It was a gorgeous day. Sometimes bright sunshine is not the best conditions for photos but we managed ok. Jessica Doherty and Rory Cooke were the two models for the day and yes they were both brilliant during the day. Esquire Wedding and Formal Wear supplied the men’s suits. Victoria Ivy Bridal Emporium supplied the wedding dresses. Hair and make up was by Ashburn Image.

Roe Park Resort is one of Northern Ireland’s premiere golf and spa resorts.

Hard As Oak with Local Women Magazine

Hard As Oak is a 10km challenge like no other. Located in the picturesque Faughan Valley and incorporating all its finest features this really is a challenge like no other. They have a cliff jump, swings, rope climb, slip’n’slide, gorge climb, swamp, mature woodland, walled gardens, marsh, lanes, gullies, paths, streams, rivers, trenches, stone stairways, open fields and a plethora of obstacles built in around this varied terrain. I went along on the morning of the challenge to get some photos for Local Women Magazine.

These are just group shots that I have but there is a link for more action shots on the Hard As Oak page. At Gerard Gormley Photography, I strive for the best photos possible. If I can help in any way with your photography needs then please feel free to get in touch. You can also follow my work on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Many thanks for taking the time to look – Gerard Gormley Photography.

Some advice for Hard As Oak training. A running program should be your first step for building endurance. If you’re new to running, consider joining a local running club to get assistance from experienced runners who can help train and give advice as you become fitter. This will allow you to build up a moderate level of fitness, to introduce new training methods and develop skills.

Pre Wedding Shoot with Christina & Noel

Pre Wedding Shoot with Christina & Noel. I met up with Christina & Noel yesterday for a pre wedding photo shoot. It is always good to try and get couples used to the idea of being in front of a camera. Noel told me that he had never did this before, but, after yesterday I think he was having a laugh. He loved it lol. Christina was just brilliant, and now really looking forward to their wedding this month. We went to Lisnagra Woods near the village of Muff in County Donegal.  The weather was a little off so we knew we would be under the trees for a little protection.

The woods at Lisnagra are west of Muff and can be reached by turning right at Harkins on the way to Derry. They featured recently on RTE and BBC but are not generally known as a tourist attraction. Some visitors have seen squirrels emerge from the wood, and they are quite numerous. A walk through the woods on a warm day is something to remember. Muff is a village in County Donegal, Ireland. It is near the mouth of the River Foyle and sits at the border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

The village of Culmore and the city of Derry are to the south. We chose this location also for the pre wedding shoot as it is very close to where we all live in Derry. Many thanks for looking and please feel free to like and share this post – thank you again Gerard Gormley Photography, Derry.
